Jubei: Rob's Arcade Cabinet

Playable Beta

At this point I had a fully playable system. It needed much work: ranging from finishing the wood surfaces, to building a marquee, installing the speakers, and the coin door. But the hardest part was done: the box was built, and I could play it whenever my little heart desired. And yeah this picture really sucks.

The Computer

Currently its your basic P2/300. It runs Linux, and sports an 802.11b wireless network adapter so I can administer it (add roms, update software) via my laptop without cracking anything open. It's not really fast enough to play some of most modern bloated ROMs, but it handles most of the games that I want with flying colors. The monitor is a Panasonic 21" right now. Just your basic monitor. I'm replacing it with a different one soon to get a few extra inches of play space.

I've affectionately nicknamed my cabinet 'Jubei' (along with the code that I use as a menu for choosing games). This is after Jubei-Chan, the Ninja Girl. A swell little Anime series that Kathleen and I both enjoyed.

Messy but Playable
